Benefit Consultancy

Francis House in Didsbury, Manchester was opened in 1991 by HRH the Princess of Wales to fill an enormous gap in the provision of care for terminally ill children in the North West. Children from all over the UK have benefited from its services.

In the sixteen years of its operation, Francis House has provided care for over 700 children and their families.

The home is free of charge to all who stay, as financial problems are the last thing on parents mind at this sad time. Francis House receives little support from the government and running costs each year stand at £1.95m.

Buckland Harvester has for some time now, arranged and participated in events to raise funds for this worthy cause. Our Manchester themed quiz night in April 2008 was attended by over 150 Manchester business folk and raised over £4000 for the charity. Walks, fun runs and abseils along with dinners and raffles take place throughout the year. For more details on how you can help Francis House  please go to

Andy Burnett took part in the British Heart Foundation Duathlon that involved a 60km cycle and run in the Lake District. His team, that included fellow Buckland Harvester colleague Ian Hollas, raised £2,000 for the charity.

Adrian Stewart raised £400 for Francis House when he abseiled off the North Stand at Old Trafford late last year.

Adrian Stewart and Karen Allsop, of Buckland Harvester Insurance Brokers, took part in the annual Francis House Peak Challenge and hiked their way to a sum raised in excess of £350 for the childrens' charity.
